WHY ISN’T MY DOG LEARNING? WHY ISN’T MY TRAINING WORKING? WHY CAN’T I TRAIN MY DOG?

If you have played piano for 4,000 people recently then nice one, I’m impressed!

If not then I’m hoping this video will give you some insight into why your dog training might not be quite where you would like it to be.

The thing is dogs and humans operate on very different levels but for some things we are remarkably similar.

When we learn something new and complex it can take a little while to get our heads around it. Sometimes we take one step forward and succeed and then we mess up again and take a couple of steps back.

A good example for me is throwing a scrunched up bit of paper in the recycling bin. I’m absolutely crap at throwing and catching, always have been, so I don’t do it very often.

But sometimes I like a good laugh at myself so I have a go. Invariably I miss the first 2 or 3 times then BOOM! I GOT IT IN!I must be great at throwing after all! Next three tries…miles off.

Now if this actually meant something to me and I practiced every day, I’m sure I could get better but what I’m saying is it wouldn’t be a linear process. The same goes for our dogs.

Sometimes as humans we just push them a bit far at first (and often without even realising that we are doing it!)

Check out this week’s video blog and get some tips for setting your dog up for success.

Cheers,
