    Reactive Dog Support Camp:

I’ve been following Holly Toad’s advice for many years now in various groups; paws- up-dogs, canine connexions and more recently joined this reactive dog support camp. My gorgeous dog Luca has been anxious and highly reactive his whole life, he is now 7. It’s definitely no “quick win” for us; our anxieties have fed each other but we are learning to preempt situations using the techniques and strategies Holly has taught us. This course was truly enlightening for both humans and dogs. Her knowledge is vast and I will continue to revisit many of the sessions as there is so much to learn! I have experienced the euphoria of Luca walking past other dogs without reacting, just glancing on a number of occasions now. I would definitely recommend this course.

Joining RDSC has been invaluable. While I knew lots of things about helping my dog, I had never before focused on helping myself. Holly, your tips and tricks for helping both of us understand and work with our emotions have made all the difference. It’s also wonderful to have a safe space to share our journey, with so many others who understand the wins and what they mean. Thanks so much for making this so achievable and being a constant source of encouragement and support.

I’m in the May cohort so only part way through the programme. Having tried many different approaches and trainers, Holly’s programme is far superior in my opinion. The programme supports both me and my dog. I’ve found that I am much better at controlling my own anxiety and feel more in control when we are faced with a trigger. Bailey is slowly building his confidence and we even walked past one of his mega triggers this week without having an explosive reaction. This was a massive achievement.

What I love about the programme, is that you do it at your and your dog’s own pace. There is no timeline so you don’t feel like you are failing or in competition with others. Holly has a way of empathising with your situation which totally puts you at ease. I am so thankful for having found the programme.

I’m in the May cohort, so just half way through, but now I know how we humans tend to feel when dealing with our dogs’ reactivity and it has helped me manage my own emotions. Dog reactivity is not all about dogs, but half of it is about the other end of the lead. I have tried all sorts of training, but Holly’s programme is superior to any of them in a way that it supports both the dog and the guardian. It is also good because all the games we play with our dogs to manage the triggers are simple and easy to practice in the real world. I used to be focused on avoiding triggers, but thanks to Holly’s guidance, we now know how to tackle them and how to recover even when my dog reacts. I feel far more at ease when we are out on walks.

Hi, we joined on the May cohort. We have just been on holiday for a week with Norman and he did so well.
We took him to quiet and not so quiet villages and towns. There were lots of dogs and we were able to do lots of trigger hunting and LAT – get back. He responded really well and was happily walking past most dogs. We still kept distance when possible and moved around cars etc when needed.
We ate in pubs and cafes and again he was nice and calm under the table. We have been on previous holidays and it hasn’t gone as well as this occasion. There were 3 days without any reactions and the other days he just had one or two. This course has given me confidence and improved my knowledge of how reactivity can manifest. I now know that when Norman has a reaction we need to try and rebuild his tower and this course has given me the tools to do this.
I also feel I have benefited with my own anxiety surrounding Norman’s reactivity.
