A Human Approach To

Somewhere you can say the things you struggle to say anywhere else

Sometimes life is just really bloody hard, and we need somewhere safe to bring the things we’re carrying.

My approach to therapy is warm, open and human. I’ll listen without judgement, be honest with you, laugh with you when it helps, and support you to find a way forward. You don’t have to pretend to be anything other than yourself.

My therapy practice is exclusively for people who share their lives with a dog

If you share your life with a dog, you’ll know they’re not just a dog.

They’re family, and your relationship with them can be one of the most important parts of your life.

For some people, their dog is the reason they get out of bed in the morning, get outside for some fresh air, or even find a reason to stay in this world.

I’ve heard from so many people whose experiences of therapy left them feeling that their therapist didn’t truly understand the significance of their relationship with their dog.

That’s not the case here.

Your therapy doesn’t have to be about your dog.

But if you’re navigating grief or anticipatory grief, struggling with guilt about not being able to show up for them in the way you’d like, or finding that your mental health is affecting your relationship, there’s space for all of that here.

You won’t have to justify why your dog matters so much. I already get it.

How can I support you

Psychological Therapy Assessment

If you’re experiencing emotional or psychological difficulties and would like to explore whether ongoing therapy with me might be helpful, this is where we begin.

We’ll spend 90 minutes talking about what you’re currently going through, how things from the past might also be impacting you now and what support might be helpful moving forward.

I’ll share my clinical recommendations, and if we both feel it’s a good fit, we can discuss ongoing therapy. The assessment can be split into two 45-minute sessions if that’s more comfortable for you.

Get It Off Your Chest Session

Sometimes you don’t need advice, solutions or a plan. You just need someone to listen while you get something off your chest, without judgement or worrying about what they’ll think.

This is a one-off, confidential 60-minute session where you can vent, rant, cry or simply talk through whatever is weighing on you. I’ll offer a warm, supportive space where you can speak openly and feel heard, without pressure to make changes or figure everything out.

This is a one-ff listening service, not psychological therapy, an assessment or a clinical intervention.

My approach and areas of expertise

There are lots of different types of therapists and modes of therapy.

As a Clinical Psychologist I choose to work in an integrative way, drawing on different approaches within clinical psychology to find what works best for you.

Therapy isn’t one-size-fits-all, and I don’t believe you should have to fit neatly into a particular model.

I specialise in supporting people who have experienced trauma, including those experiencing PTSD symptoms, depression and anxiety. I also have specialist training in working with people who hear voices that others cannot hear and those with ADHD symptoms.

My approach is warm, open and responsive. I’ll support you when things are really crap, laugh with you when you need some light relief, and be honest with you too. Sometimes that means challenging you, because making progress doesn’t always mean agreement.

And I won’t sit opposite you with a deadpan expression while you wonder whether you’ve said something ridiculous.

Above all, I want you to feel safe enough to be yourself, even the parts you find difficult to share elsewhere.
